Could a Team of Werewolves Win the Super Bowl?

This question came up while discussing my Luna books with a fellow author. After much debate (and several glasses of wine), we reached a unanimous decision: if the Super Bowl were played near a full moon, the werewolf team would absolutely dominate. Mere humans wouldn’t stand a chance.

Scouting report: runs a 4.1 forty. Questionable sportsmanship.

Some years, the calendar does the werewolves a favor and drops the Super Bowl within a few days of a full moon. In those years, any werewolf team would be nearing peak strength, with heightened speed, agility, and senses. Of course, even at a new moon, Luna can draw upon massive reserves of moonlight energy to power up her packmates. Either way, it would be a supernatural blowout.

Now, if the NFL allowed werewolves, there’s no doubt the Green Bay Pack would be the team to beat. Imagine a pack of supernatural linebackers, a quarterback with wolf-like reflexes, and wide receivers who can literally outrun the wind. Even the most die-hard human teams wouldn’t know what hit them.

But in the Lunaverse, humans aren’t the only competitors. How would the Green Bay Pack fare against a team of magicians or a coven of witches? Or, if we stick to shifters, Luna happens to know a few bear shifters who wouldn’t go down without a fight.

Now that would be the ultimate Fantasy Football Frenzy! Forget draft picks. Fans would be betting on which supernatural species had the best game-day advantage. Werewolves? Witches? Shifters? Fae? This would be the Super Bowl of the supernatural.

So what do you think? Would werewolves dominate the gridiron, or would another supernatural team give them a run for their money?

With howls of championship glory,
Veronica
